I wanted to create a wedding guest makeup look because, having been to a wedding a couple of weeks ago, and heading to a wedding in another couple of months time, aside from the dress, how I was going to do and wear my makeup was up there on my stress list. First world problems, I know. For a wedding guest look I want something that is glamorous yet understated, because you want to look good, but not be the centre of attention. That’s the job of the bride. And God forbid you should ever show up the bride on her wedding day.
The look I created was inspired by one eyeshadow and one eyeshadow only; the Loreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush, a stunning, highly metallic, mesmerising, rose gold. I’m ashamed to say that since I purchased it during my trip to New York at the end of last year, I’ve only used it a total of one time. Considering that I’ve been wanting it since the beginning of time (it’s been around for some time) but couldn’t get my hands on it as it isn’t available in the UK (damn you Loreal), that’s a pretty poor performance on my part. But obviously when you don’t have it, and especially when it’s not available or of limited edition, you NEED it that much more or life just isn’t worth living, right?
The shade is stunning and the formula reminds me somewhat of the Makeup Geek Foiled Eyehadows, which are one of my favourite formulations of all time. The Infallible eyeshadows are smooth and buttery and glides on the lids with no effort at all. The pigment and metallic sheen are incredible, and creates the illusion of ‘wet’ looking eyes. I mean, who doesn’t want wet looking eyes? It’s the perfect shade for a wedding because it’s intense in finish yet soft in colour. It’s pretty, feminine and uber romantic. It’s a shade that would work well with all skin colours, from the most fairest of complexions to the most deepest of skin tones. Have I sold it to you yet? I teamed it with neutral shades from the Jaclyn Hill Favourites by Morphe Brushes (surprise, surprise, another limited edition) which keeps the look subtle and also versatile as you can team it with any lip colour your little heart desires. My go to lip of choice for an event that requires formality is a glossy, MLBB type of shade which comprises of interchangeable products yet when combined give a similar effect. The line up this time is composed of: Mac Lip Liner in Soar, Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick in Buttercup and Gerard Cosmetics Lipgloss in Shimmer of Hope. You just can’t go wrong.
Anyway enough waffling. Enjoy the video.
