Sephora.com & Nordstrom Birthday Haul – November 2016

I finally, FINALLY got my hands back on the ABH Master Palette by Mario. I say ‘back on’ due to the fact that I had originally ordered it online but due to some ‘technicalities’, they rejected my order after the palette had sold out. To say I was distraught was an understatement (first world problems, I know). Luckily I managed to get my cousin to order it for me from the states where it was available online at Sephora.com and I thought whilst she’s at it, I might as well get my money’s worth (or rather make shipping from the USA to Australia worthwhile). This was basically what spurred on this USA Sephora & Nordstrom Hall. And coincidently, as my birthday was coming up (which would have already passed when this post goes up), my cousin and my siblings offered to pay for this haul as my birthday gift. Get in!

I knew I just had to get my hands on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette By Mario when I first glimpsed teaser swatches from the ABH Instagram and Snapchat Accounts. The 12 pan palette created by makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic (best known as Kim KW’s makeup artist) is a limited edition must-have particularly for those who are a fan of neutral tones (who isn’t). This palette is as versatile as they come with 9 metallic/shimmery shades and 3 matte shades. I cannot wait to have a play.

I also decided to pick up the ABH Foundation Stick (in the shade Warm Natural). I’ve never used a stick foundation before but as this one has been getting lots of good reviews, particularly from those with a similar skin type to mine (combo-oily), plus it leaves behind a soft, demi-matte finish which is my kind of finish. Thinking about it, a stick foundation is such a practical concept and makes it easy to carry around and touch up whilst on the go.

Also from ABH, I picked up the Liquid Lipstick in their newest colour addition, Allison. It is a great shade for fall: a mid tone, pinky brown shade that isn’t as dark as the vampy reds and plums commonly seen at this time of year, or even the bold, straight up browns.  And because it’s not too dark, it wouldn’t look too much when worn in the daytime especially with everything else kept to a minimum. I really wanted to pick up the nude shade Stripped too but it was out of stock at the time. Until next time…

I have been waiting ever so patiently for the arrival of the new shades in the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer but they are nowhere to be seen this side of the world. Fear not, my cousin is my saviour. I asked her to pick up the shade ‘Macadamia’ which to me looked like the shade in-between Custard and Ginger. Custard is a lovely yellow toned shade that works as a brightening concealer/highlighter. Ginger has more of a peachy tone to it and I use it all over my face for concealing blemishes. However, when I am not so tanned, Ginger is a tad too dark and turns out looking rather orange on me. That’s where I am hoping Macadamia will step in. It also has that peachy tone to it that I am hoping will be able to counteract the darkness under my eyes (without being too dark) but also cover up my imperfections around the rest of my face when I am not sporting a bronze, beach-goddess glow.

However big a fan I am of Mac lipsticks, I’ve never really been one whose been into the limited edition collection or new ranges. For me, Mac seems to produce some sort of new collection/collaboration every week. But when I started to see the reviews of the new Liptensity lipsticks come in, my interest piqued somewhat. Then one day, as I was ‘randomly’ walking through a department store, I saw the Liptensity lipsticks on display and thought it would be rude not to take a closer look. I was only really interested  in the two nude shades (of course) that I had seen: ‘Doe’ and ‘Smoked Almond’. It was love at first swatch. I could tell from swiping the lipstick on the back of my hand that the formula was very creamy, more creamier than any of their existing formulas, and the colour payoff was instant. POW! Bold pigment is one, single, gentle swipe. I was sold.

As a result of my purchase, Sephora threw in the miniature It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer (try saying that five times fast). I’d not heard of this so I’m assuming it’s new but I have used the original, non illuminating version and boy that stuff is full coverage. I am definitely looking forward to giving this a go.

Since this haul, all the holiday sets have been released and just browsing the site, Sephora.com has incredible value sets (Sephora.com.au needs to step up their game). Something tells me it won’t be too long before another haul is to be made.
