I stumbled across Tanya Burr’s You Tube videos and blog last Summer whilst I was looking for makeup inspiration for an upcoming summer wedding in the small town of Alcoy in sunny Spain. I’ve been a fan of hers ever since. So when she announced that she was launching her own lip gloss and nail varnish range, I couldn’t have been more excited for her.
Her collection consists of 12 lip glosses and 10 nail varnish shades priced at £6.99 and £5.99 respectively and was initially exclusive to feelunique.com. Now I believe you can also get it pomshopltd.com and Superdrug online. They are due to hit Superdrug stores in the near future.
The lip glosses are a non sticky formulation, highly pigmented (so you can easily where it alone as well as over lipstick) and hydrating on the lips making it really comfortable to wear. The colours range from soft pinks and pretty peaches like “First Date” and “Just Peachy” to more bold and bright shades like “Exotic Island” which is purple toned pink and “Vampire Kiss” which you could quite easily guess at being a vibrant red hue. I purchased “Aurora”, a mid toned pink that screams springtime and a very wearable everyday colour. It’s gone straight into my everyday handbag.
The nail varnishes come in an array of vibrant fun shades with cute names such as “Little Duck”, which is a pastel mint-blue, “Penguin Chic”, a neutral soft toned grey, and “Midnight Sparkles” which is a deep purple shade with pink shimmer running through it. I was indecisive about what shade to select. Part of me wanted to go for “Little Duck” as I think its such a fun colour but I do have a similar shade from Maybelline from their Forever Strong range, “Mint for Life”, plus I think a colour like this has limited wear time through the year. I guess you could say I played it safe and opted for “Mischief Mananged”, a red, my favourite nail colour. However, unlike the other red shades I own which are more deep and cool in tone, this is a warm orange/red which I think is a great summer shade and looks awesome with a tan. I wasted no time in painting my toes (even though they will be wrapped up in socks and boots for another couple of months). The brush is quite thinner than I’d like but it applied nicely and the formula leaves a very glossy finish. It’s been a day and it’s all fully intact so not sure how long it will last for (my toes usually lasts longer than my fingers) but happy to report back.
Overall, I’m quite impressed with Tanya Burr’s initial product offering. I’m sure given the success of her first collection, there will be more to come in the not so distant future. I hope so anyway.
