This month’s Birchbox came with such huge anticipation. I’m not usually a fan of spoilers, especially where they divulge the ending of a series, or declare the winner of the reality tv show you’ve been watching (yes I sometimes do watch Celeb Big Brother). However, when I stumbled across a blog post titled “June Birchbox Spoiler”, I clicked straight through without an ounce of hesitation. I want to know what I can expect to get.
So the reason why I was so excited for this month’s Birchbox to come through? Well one of the two spoilers revealed that one of this month’s beauty box goodies would be the one and only and original, Beauty Blender. The second of the two spoilers was that a product from French skincare, boutique brand Caudalie, would be amongst the goodies. Having used a couple of their products, I knew I’d probably enjoy whatever Caudalie product that Birchbox throw at me (not literally).
I thought that last month’s Birchbox would be a hard one to top as for me, it was the best one I had received since I signed up to it at the start of the year. Now that I have June’s beauty box in front of me, my,
it’s a close call. With no further digression, here are the contents of my June Birchbox.
Yves Rocher Sheer Botanical Lipstick
I’ve definitely heard of this brand before. Somewhere. Somehow. I can’t be sure. Anyway, the product I have in front of me is, on first impressions, a pretty coloured lipstick. It looks bright. A bold coral with a strong orange undertone. However, I was a little bit disappointed when I did a quick swatch on the back of my hand. The colour is very, very sheer. Pretty, but very sheer.Applied on the lips, it actually feels more like a lightweight balm as it’s very moisturising and I think thats due to the cheery oil in it, which also leaves a nice scent to the product. I’d say this is a everyday product if you want something hydrating and nourishing whilst imparting a slight hint of colour to the lips.
Also included in this months beauty box is a bottle of Korres Citrus Body Milk. Now I’ve dabbled with a little bit of Korres quite recently but I can’t say that it’s the best of experiences. However, all brands deserve a second chance so I’m happy at giving this lotion ago. On first impressions, it looks alright. A light, white lotion with a pleasant citrusy-milky-creamy scent. I’ll keep you informed.
BeautyBlender & BeautyCleanser Solid.
Now I’m sure the whole of the beauty world and all their friends have heard of the Beauty Blender. For me, a sponge is never the first thought when it comes to makeup application. I use brushes and I’m quite happy with them, and quite recently I’ve started to use my own hands to massage in foundation and to blend out concealer. The only downside with brushes is that sometimes they can leave things looking quite streaky. You have to really buff away and blend, blend, and blend some more to achieve that flawless, undetectable look to your skin. However, quite recently I’ve been enjoying using the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge as a second step to go over my foundation once applied. I find that by using a stippling motion with the sponge, I can smooth over any streakiness which brushes can leave behind. I’ve yet to actually use it as a tool to apply the foundation though. I might take that step with the beauty blender. Not going to lie, I’m quite excited at just thinking about using it (sad, I know).
Caudalie Vinoperfect SPF15 Day Perfecting Fluid
Being a fan of the infamous Caudalie Beauty Elixir and currently using the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Matifying Fluid, I am eager to try the contents of this little tube. As expected, it smells divine. The fluid is slightly more heavier in texture compared to the Matifying Fluid I’ve been using as part of my morning routine and it also has a peachy tint to it. This one however, has an added SPF of 15 so it has sun protection (albiet not the highest of factors so be sensible if you are planning to be out in the sun) checked off. I’ll definitely let you know how I get on with this one.
This has got to be the smallest bottle of nail polish I have ever seen! So Cute!! The shade is a magenta infused purple with tiny glitter particles (not sure what the shade name is). I have to be honest though, I’m not excited about the colour. Might be something to do with the glitter. I’ll just leave it there.
Lifestyle Extra-Birchbox Brazil Inspired Keyring
Gone are the days where I collected keyrings. I stopped when I found that my keys had become easily the heaviest item in my handbag. I guess this little lifestyle extra is supposed to get us into the World Cup mood which is being held in Brazil this year (and gone are the days where I’m so bothered to watch England play and then LOSE…no more heartache!).
So that sums up just about everything I’ve got in this month’s beauty box. Have you used/tried any of these products?
